Who can benefit from therapy?

Therapy at Rise Up Therapeutic Services is designed to support:

  • Children, teenagers, and young adults
  • Neurodiverse individuals (e.g., those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, PDA, ADHD, OCD, ODD, and more)
  • Neurotypical individuals
  • Those facing challenges like depression, anxiety, or emotional wellbeing concerns
  • Individuals seeking to build coping strategies, resilience, or social skills
  • Families looking for support and guidance

How long is a session?

A typical therapy session lasts about one hour, but can vary from case to case, and it would depend on the service being rendered.

Do you work as part of a team?

Yes, collaboration is a key part of my approach! I love working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, doctors, speech therapists, occupational therapists, teachers, educational psychologist, general practitioners and other professionals. This teamwork helps ensure the best outcomes for clients. Information will not be shared without the clients permission.

Does medical aid cover therapy sessions?

Yes, therapy services are covered by medical aids. However, clients must pay me directly for the sessions and then submit the invoice to their medical aid for reimbursement. The invoice will include all the necessary information for claims. It is the client’s responsibility to confirm with their medical aid beforehand if their plan covers therapy.

Do I need a referral?

No, a referral is not required. While many clients are referred by teachers, doctors, or other professionals, anyone can reach out directly for therapy services.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, all sessions are confidential. Information will only be shared with relevant stakeholders (such as teachers or other professionals) with the client’s explicit permission.

How often will I receive feedback as a parent?

Feedback frequency depends on the individual case. Information from sessions will be shared as needed to manage the case effectively. Since therapy is a process, feedback is not necessarily provided after every session. As part of the team approach I appreciate when parents or caregivers play an active role in the therapeutic process and share feedback as they feel necessary or ask for feedback.

Is there an animal involved in therapy?

Yes! Luna, my friendly and lovable dapple dachshund, often joins therapy sessions. She is vaccinated regularly, bathed, and well-cared for. Many children love having Luna as part of the therapy process, as her presence can help them feel more comfortable and at ease. If you or your child prefer not to have Luna involved, arrangements can be made.
